2023: During Grey Cup Week, Lenius received the Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award. The Award was created in 2010 in honour of former CFL Commissioner Jake Gaudaur, a distinguished Second World War veteran. Each year at the CFL Awards, a presentation is made to a National player who embodies the attributes that were possessed by Gaudaur and are associated with Canada’s veterans — strength, perseverance, courage, comradeship and contributions to Canadian communities. Lenius became the fourth Roughrider to receive the honour, following Mike McCullough (the inaugural winner in 2010), Graeme Bell (2012) and Dan Clark (2022). Injuries limited Lenius to one regular-season game in 2023. He had two catches for 12 yards against the Toronto Argonauts on July 29 during Touchdown Atlantic in Halifax.

PRO: Lenius was selected by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the second round, 15th overall, of the 2019 CFL Draft.  In 2019, Lenius played in 11 games  for Green and White, making two receptions for four yards. He enjoyed a breakout year in 2021, registering 37 receptions for 471 yards and a team-high four touchdown catches during a season that was shortened to 14 games per team due to COVID-19. In January of 2022, Lenius signed with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. He rejoined the Roughriders in August of that year and finished the season with 17 catches for 172 yards and a touchdown in seven games.

COLLEGE: Lenius spent his senior year (2018) at the University of New Mexico after spending the previous three seasons at the University of Washington. While being used primarily as a tight end over four seasons of NCAA football, he compiled 581 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

PERSONAL: Lenius is the son of the late Troy Dickey, who was a receiver with the Roughriders in 1995. Lenius’s late grandfather, Eldridge Dickey, was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the first round, 25th overall, of the 1968 AFL-NFL Draft. Eldridge Dickey, a star quarterback at Tennessee State, was inducted into the Black College Football Hall of Fame in 2012. Brayden’s mother, Shawna Lenius, is a former member of the University of Regina Cougars women’s basketball team. She also excelled in basketball with the Riffel Royals.
